I planted my first seed in January of 2010 during my intro to horticulture class at Texas A&M University Commerce. Since then I have been expanding the garden in my back yard ever since. In May my best friends Chris and Renea helped me dig a 4x8 foot plot next to our patio. In that space as well as a few containers I planted basil, dill , grape tomatos, spinach, sqash, beets, and onions. Of those plants the squash and onions died and the beets still arn't ready; while the spinach grape tomatos, basil and dill turned out nicely. For fall I have expanded the garden by adding a 6 foot in diameter circle and about a 6x 8 foot rectangle. I now have planted orange and yellow squash, two types of zucchni, pumpkin, red leaf romain, spinach, three types of peas, blue lake (green) beans, tomatos, jalopenos and okra. This week two of my orange squashes have died from the blazing texas heat (100+ for 16 days in a row.) Hopefully the weather cools before I loose more. Luckly I have more seeds to plant if more fail. Thats the January- August in a small nut shell.
