Friday evening my mom and I worked outside. She mowed the grass; while I planted some seeds and weeded the garden. I also planted broccoli, spinach, red romaine, and iceberg lettuce in small containers to grow in until they get become seedlings. Hopefully the heat wont destroy them. The pie pumpkin (or orange squash ?) is quickly taking over the 6x10 space. For the moment it is leaving the peas alone. The alaska peas are almost tall enough to start climbing the trellis; while the little marvel peas are still pretty short. The sugar snap's haven't come up yet. I'm guessing that I'll have to plant more of them in a week or so, hopefully it is a bit cooler. The okra is producing very well, if I had more okra plants I'd be able to make something with them. There are a few spinach seedlings that are popping up from when I planted a few weeks ago. Only a few in a small clump made it above ground, maybe a few more will come up soon. Everything else is growing well. I think everything that is going to die of "heat stroke" has died (hopefully). I'll post a visual update soon.
Thanks,
Amanda
